When Toni Weaver and Wayne Freeman moved near Eagle Rock from upstate
New York, they named their place "Hillbilly Heaven" as a reference to
their plan to live a simple life and work "...by the word of the Lord."
Their gardening efforts met with success---enough so that,
this year, they joined Botetourt Family Farmers. They participate in the
weekly market held on Saturdays from 8am-1pm (or sell-out) in the
parking lot of Ikenberry's on US 220 north of Daleville.
Toni's offerings at the market include cookies made from her
grandmother's recipe and other baked goods using organic sugars and not
containing high fructose corn syrup. Her garden yielded produce which
she has transformed into relishes, jams, pickles and sauces,
including interesting combinations of herbs, pineapples, oranges and hot
peppers. She also has had some fresh produce including herbs to sell at
the market. In addition to her table there, she can be reached at (540)
567-2021.
